Two common categories of acid reflux are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)<\/strong>. LPR is a form of acid reflux wherein stomach acid rises to the throat. LPR doesn\u2019t present with the typical acid reflux symptoms (heartburn or indigestion) but may cause hoarseness, laryngitis, chronic throat clearing and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)<\/strong>. GERD is a better-known form of acid reflux occurring when <a href=\"https:\/\/entandallergyspecialists.org\/ent\/acid-reflux\/\">acid flows through the esophagus<\/a>, irritating its lining and causing heartburn, chest pain, regurgitation, trouble swallowing, hoarseness and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>LPR contributes to hoarseness in up to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK519548\/\">55% of patients with impai<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK519548\/\" target=\"_blank\">red voice function<\/a>. When you experience chronic acid reflux, your voice may become hoarse due <a href=\"https:\/\/entandallergyspecialists.org\/ent\/sore-throat\/\">inflammation and soreness in the throat<\/a> from acid. Add a little local honey from Save Your Bees to your favorite herbal tea for a comforting and throat-soothing beverage.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"add-moisture-to-the-air\">Add Moisture to the Air<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Dry air can contribute to the sore throat caused by your acid reflux. Running a humidifier can add the necessary moisture to your throat. If you do not have a humidifier, run a hot shower and sit in the bathroom with a towel stuffed under the door. The hot shower will create a steam room effect and help soothe your sore throat.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hard-candy-and-cough-drops\">Hard Candy and Cough Drops<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Sucking on a hard candy or cough drop can provide moisture to the throat.
