Dr. Tom Hamilton of ENT & Allergy Specialists now offers Genio®, an FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Genio therapy is a mask-free option that works by stimulating the hypoglossal nerve on both sides of the tongue to contract the tongue muscles and keep the airway open throughout the night.

The Genio System combines a battery-free stimulator with a sleep wearable that powers the device externally. The implantable stimulator is placed under the chin during a one-time outpatient surgical procedure.
The sleep wearable combines a disposable patch with an external battery, also called an activation chip, worn under the chin while sleeping. Genio therapy is activated approximately eight weeks post-procedure, when it can be controlled via an optional smartphone app that tracks device usage and allows therapy adjustment within a predefined range.

The activation chip is charged daily with a small, portable charger wherever it is convenient, even during travel.
Genio therapy has been clinically proven to significantly reduce sleep apnea events, with high daily use rates and high patient satisfaction.
You may be eligible for Genio if you are over 22 years old, have a recent sleep study indicating an AHI between 15-65, have a BMI that is less than 32 and can no longer tolerate or benefit from current standard of care treatments such as lifestyle modification and positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy.
